Garuda Indonesia officially appointed as " Global Official Airline " of Liverpool FC
On Monday, September 3, 2012, PT. Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., Indonesia's flag carrier, and "Liverpool Football Club And Athletic Ground Limited (Liverpool FC)" officially signed a partnership agreement between the two companies which will continue for three seasons (2012 – 2015). The signitories were Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar, Garuda Indonesia EVP Marketing & Sales, Elisa Lumbantoruan, Managing Director of Liverpool FC, Ian Ayre, and Financial Director of Liverpool FC, Philip Nash. The ceremony was also witnessed by legendary 1980s-1990s Liverpool star, Ian Rush. The partnership program is part of Garuda Indonesia's "Quantum Leap" program to transform the airline into a "Global Company".

This exclusive deal renders Garuda Indonesia as the “Global Official Airline” for Liverpool. This means, whenever Liverpool tours to destinations that are served by Garuda – especially in Asia and Australia - it will enlist the services of Garuda Indonesia, as its official airline.

The agreement also offers Garuda Indonesia the opportunity to carry out a marketing communication campaign program by using some of the facilities they own, such as "Light Emitting Diode/LED” positioned around the edge of the pitch at Anfield stadium during home games which will be broadcasted by top TV networks to international viewers all over the world. In addition, Garuda Indonesia is also given the access to reach 10 million Liverpool fans through Liverpool’s official Facebook account and 1 million Liverpool's Twitter "followers".

Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar explained that the cooperation with Liverpool is in line with the airline’s "Quantum Leap" program which will strengthen Garuda Indonesia’s image as a Global Brand and a Global Player in the global aviation industry. The cooperation provides a valuable opportunity for Garuda Indonesia to increase international awareness through an effective marketing communication facilitated by Liverpool’s global channels. "We are very pleased to join up with Liverpool Football Club. They are one of England’s best football clubs and is already a well-known global brand, with fans and supporters all over the world, including in Indonesia. "Liverpool, You’ll Never Walk Alone (YNWA)," added Emir.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Managing Director, Ian Ayre welcomes the cooperation referring to it as a fantastic collaboration. "Liverpool has fans all over the world, and we are ready to work together with Garuda Indonesia and assist in their rapid growth. We are honored to join forces with one of the best brands in the global aviation industry, especially a brand that comes from a country that has a strong and unique fan base that we are very proud of. "We are on friendly terms with Indonesia, a country which has a generally high economic growth", added Ian Ayre.

This collaboration with Liverpool will give Garuda Indonesia the media exposure it needs to effectively increase its international brand awareness and also offers maximum benefit as Garuda advertisement are given a higher display frequency and longer duration.

Next year, Liverpool plans to visit several countries on its tour of Asia, including Indonesia. Garuda Indonesia hopes the visit will potentially enhance the spirit of soccer in Indonesia.
